Chinese people, why have you forgotten all the good things that your ancestors taught you?
Don't get angry. I'm Chinese also. It's just that I am appalled by all the bad things that China has done recently such as selling poisonous toys, fake tooth pastes, using a prettier girl to lip-sync in the Olympics, faking the athletes' birth dates, and selling all kinds of low quality products to people all over the world.
The Chinese were the inventors of Taoism. Which in my opinion is the greatest ancient religion and has the most wonderful spiritual guidelines ever written. The modern Chinese people are supposed to be like their ancestors and be the keepers of those good traits. In my opinion the Japanese are doing a way better job at being the ideal Chinese than the Chinese themselves. The Japanese people are polite and have very good morals. They would never make poisonous toys or fake tooth pastes or bootleg CD's and such.
What's happened to the Chinese people? Being a Chinese myself I feel so ashamed and embarrassed. Why have we forgotten how to be Chinese?
I'm Chinese too. My siblings and I endured the cultural revolution and witnessed the changes around the world during these key periods of time.
I think it's good, in a way, that the Chinese have changed. From concubines and emperors to Mao's control (which was difficult for everyone, good thing we got out of it quickly) to modernized cities, China is keeping up with the world's economic pace, even getting ahead. This nation is quickly becoming more powerful and influential, and sadly some of the side effects are the ones you listed-- any nation will take shortcuts to gain a lead and these can be disappointing.
Think of the positive sides. There are people like you who still believe. We don't have major drug trafficking problems or dangerous wars threatening society every day.
Every nation is changing, along with its culture, and the best thing we can do is enjoy the time we have.
