I have a wonderful pair of brown Chinese geese that have been laying eggs for about 5 years now. Every year she sits on about 8 eggs, and every year none hatch. I candle them after she sits on them for about a week, so i know they are fertile. I just don't get it. Last year i found a gosling that hatched and died, and that is the closest she has come to raising her young.
So this year i placed 6 eggs in my incubator, and surprisingly every single egg is doing fine ( i candled them last night), and they are due to hatch in about a week.
My question is, can i give them back to the mother once they hatch? should i put the eggs underneath her before they hatch?
I would love to see chicks learning everything from there mom, but i dont want to condem them to death.
