Old Purple Jade
Painting a room.. getting rid of old colors+paint cost?

I plan on repainting my room. Right now the walls are deep jade and dark purple (huckleberry)... don't ask I was in 6th grade and now I've been staying in our other spare bedroom. But I would like to re-paint what was my old room.. I am going to do navy blue, and on the border/bottom frame thing do baby blue or pink, I haven't really decided yet. But what would I buy to get rid of the paint, if I wanted to put a lighter color over it? Do I buy something that eats the paint?
AND
If I remember correctly, I bought the paint before by gallons. Can someone give me a guestimate how much paint would be per gallon at Home Depo?

You probably should get a good stain and paint blocker. It comes in gallons also. It will go on first and block any color or stain from showing through. The paint can will tell you how much it will cover. It is usually in square foot. You may want to think of using a second coat for good coverage. Also if you are worried about heat savings you can order a cermic additive that helps hold the heat or a/c inside your room. It could possibly save money on your heating bill. The additive will have to be ordered on line. If you are intersted in the ceramic additive all you have to do is an online search for ceramic paint or ceramic paint additives.

If if is a typical room it is also about 8 ft high. or about 416 sq. ft to paint.
