I've been doing some research on hair straightening methods. I think I want to get my hair straightened the Japanese way, but I would still like to hear what others have to say about the different methods. Please don't tell me I should "love my curls" because my hair is so unmanageable and I can't style it in any ways I really like. Also, don't tell me to use a flat iron. After hours of straightening my hair is straight, but it's also puffy and course. (I've tried different irons, different heat seatings, and heat protectors, but the outcome is still the same.)
I'm a 15 year old Filipino/Mexican girl. My hair is very dark brown, thick, and just about every kinky strand wants to curl a different way. So what do you think?
Well..I am mixed, African American is what I mostly identify with, so i have extremely THICK, curly, coarse dry hair. I live in NYC so usually I just go to the Dominican Salons. If you dnt know what I am talkin bout then i feel bad for u. lol Anyways, wat u should do is wash and conditioner your hair...roll it up in magnetic rollers...sit under a dryer for about an hour (the time depends on how long/thick/coarse ur hair is...but an hour should b the max amount of time because you do not want to burn your hair). Once you come out of the dryer and take out the rollers..ur hair is soooooo soft...Then after that, you can blowdry your hair or just the roots...or neither. I sugest you go to a salon but if you cant, you can buy your own tools, such as a overhead dryer which is about 200$ and a regular hand dryer ...an dthe curlers which is about 5 bucks. Your hair will be sooo smooth and fall nicely. If you cant do this, I suggest you get a perm...which unfortunately have long term negative effects!
