my mother hates antiques! it is strange for a person that has so many relatives in the antique business. during the 70s our house was turned into something else. he covered hard wood floors with shag carpet and brought in orange italian sofas with slate topped tables..faux fur chairs and a kidney shaped wood an glass coffee table that was then a cocktail table...it was groovy..even then i wanted our home like our neighbor with the colonial furniture..eating on benches with the brass colonial chandelier...i now live with my mother to assist her and have tried to sneak in a few nice pieces....no way! says mom.i want to end the brady bunch look...i'm more into ethan allen and my mother is back in the 70s..with bell bottom pant suits hanging in her closet...i love antiques..don't you?
I enjoy true antique furniture but cannot afford good quality pieces.
At the moment, I feel I am living in a museum. Just moved back to our 110 year old flat in eastern Europe and it full of my mother-in-laws old 70's communist era furniture.
At times I think I would rather be sleeping on the floor then on the old fold out couch bed /storage unit piece that we are sleeping on at the moment.
Not really sure what to do, buy a new bed that takes up allot of space or buy a more modern version of a sofa bed or perhaps a double sized bunk bed that can also be used as a office space under the bed.
Over here most people must have a double use for their furniture since space indoors is often limited.
We moved from a huge 3bdrm 3 bath house in Las Vegas to a small old 1 1/2 room walk up flat.
It's rather romanctic but also sort of closed in.
If I had a choice, I would go super modern with light airy colors and no clutter.
