Steam damaged my table - please help!?
I made french toast and put it on a paper plate. I then placed the plate on my beautiful, antique dining room table. Now my table looks ruined! There's a spot (in the exact shape of a piece of bread) where the finish looks damaged (off color and rough). Apparently, the steam from the french toast went right through the paper plate. Is there any hope of repairing the damage?
Wouldn't rubbing ashes and walnuts damage the table even more?
You may be out of luck, but you can try this- rub ashes on the spot in a circular motion.Then rub a walnut or a pecan over the area. If that doesn't work, you may have to take it to a pro. Beware of anyone who says that they will need to completely strip your table. They are trying to rip you off. Start with the gentlest process first.The ashes are a mild abrasive, and the nut has natural oils in it.
