Problem with The Sims 2- Open for Business?
I have the Nightlife, University and Open For Business expansion packs. But I have a problem with Open for business, I can't use some of the new items, more specifically the new dressers:
-"Anti-Quaint-Ed-Medium" Ltd. Ed. Armoire
-Werkbunnst Medium Stonewood Dresser
-Medium Decorative House Armoire
-Supreme Cabinet of the Lesser Items
-Sun King Drawers by Royale Furniture Co.
-Rob R. Barron "Nouveau" Medium Wardrobe
-Ye Closet
-Touch of Teak Tansu Medium Dresser
-"Hold Me Closer" by Tiny Dresser Co.
Also, when I try to load the furniture store in "Bluewater Village", the game crashes.
I've already tried to reinstall it, but that didn't work. How can I solve this problem?
Hmm, it sounds to me like you might have downloaded some kind of hack or custom dresser with a faulty mesh that might have overwritten the bhav's of all your other dressers.
The furnniture store crash could be due to this same faulty mesh, as you might have placed the broken custom dresser in your shop.
ModTheSims2 has a tool called Delphy's Download Organizer, which can help you locate all your custom files and breaks them down into catalog placement categories. I provided a link to this handy tool below in the resources section.
Anyway, using the download organizer, I would locate ALL your custom dressers and associated hacks, and move them to a temporary folder on your desktop. Load the game WITHOUT your custom dressers and hacks, and see if the crashing problem re-occurs. If not, then you've taken the first step in locating the problem file. Add your custom dressers back in one at a time and re-load the game each time to see if the crashing is still happening. This process takes a long time, I know, but it's a preetty much foolproof way of finding out exactly which file was causing the problem in the first place.
The worst case scenario is if the bad mesh has permanently overwritten original Maxis content, in which case you will probably have to do a full re-install. Make sure you back up your Neighborhoods, Lots and package your favorite lots/sims before doing the reinstall.
