How do I clean a large area rug (whole thing) in a way that is inexpensive, but effective?
When we moved in here, it was winter and obviously wet. Now our nice white area rug looks horrible. If it weren't for the darker spots, and the very light spots under shelves, it would look a completely different color. I've tried everything and nothing seems to pull it all out. Seems to spread the dirt more than anything.
Does anyone know a product or method that is relatively cheap, but will clean the carpet? Any suggestions are much appreciated 
Rather then going through all the hassle of doing it yourself & taking a chance it might not clean, I would call around. You can probably get it professionally cleaned for $50-$75.
